From the Pastor
Dear
Friends,
I was born in Columbia,
SC, but lived most of my life in Dalzell, SC.
I grew up with wonderful Christian parents, and they taught me the love of
Jesus and the importance of serving others. After graduating from Charleston
Southern University, I was a semester missionary with the North American
Mission Board for three years in Charleston,
SC. After meeting and marrying my
wife, Becky, we went to Fort Worth,
TX, and spent three years at the
Southwestern Seminary. In December of 2005, I answered the call to pastor Monte Vista
Baptist Church.
I want our church to be a lighthouse to the community, serving the needs of
others in real ways, getting outside the four walls of the church, and making a
difference in Mountain Rest. I want our people to develop authentic
relationships with God and with each other. I want our congregation to really
be able to understand what Scripture means for them and to be able to find out
for themselves what God is saying. And I want God to receive lots of glory and
praise for what happens here. I'm excited about what God is doing and about the
difference He is making in the lives of our congregation and in our community.
